Why we celebrate pride (and will continue to do so)

June & July were the months of Autistic Pride, NeuroQueer Pride, & Disability Pride.

It’s more important than ever to promote awareness and pride within all kinds of communities, big or small, because visibility is the first important step in fostering acceptance within any mainstream society.

During times in which turbulent social and political climates actively push to suppress self-expression and actualization, particularly within marginalized groups; these are the times in which it’s more important than ever to make our voices heard and to assert our rights: the right to live our lives unmasked, to healthy relationships, to gainful employment, to accessible supports, to life-saving therapy and medication, to be understood and heard as we are even though we’re different.

To assert our collective right to not only exist in this world but to thrive in it as our authentic selves.

That’s why despite day-jobs, degrees, health issues, and many other competing responsibilities, the international Kaboose Team works hard to make the Kaboose app an accessible and intuitive space where neurodivergent adults can learn more about themselves, make like-minded friends, and find jobs that fully support their nervous systems, bodies, and lifestyles.

That is also why we host our weekly Divergent Discussions and online Hangouts; online safe spaces to voice our frustrations, be vulnerable, grow stronger, and learn life-skills from leading neurodivergent leaders, educators, area and topic experts about how to overcome common or unique challenges and offering solutions specifically-attuned to neurodivergent needs first(!), not the other way around.

Kaboose’s own social media accounts regularly post informative, experiential, educational, and relatable content from a wide variety of talented neurodivergent creators with important messages and valuable insights. We also take a great deal of pride in sponsoring said creators and fairly compensating them for their time and contributions to our mission, as true support must also come in tangible ways that allow independent creators to continue to do what they are deeply passionate about and love.

We are endlessly proud of our uniquely brave, curious, and vibrant community. That’s why we’ll never get tired of telling their stories to anyone who’s willing to learn and to listen.

Because thriving as your authentic self shouldn’t be radical. It should be reality.
