Leadership learning that goes beyond neurodiversity awareness

How Kaboose helped a Victorian disability support provider shape a leadership workshop grounded in lived experience.

The challenge

Awareness is a starting point. Not the finish line.

InLife, a not-for-profit disability support agency in Victoria, was looking for content that showed what neuroinclusive leadership looks like in practice and could feed into its own leadership development.

As a Kaboose pilot partner, its Leadership & Learning team explored the platform and used the content to help design a workshop for InLife’s leaders.

“What stood out most was hearing directly from presenters with lived experience.”
What made the difference

Real experiences. Practical leadership.

Three things stood out to InLife’s Leadership & Learning team.

01
Lived experience
Hearing from people who live it

Presenters shared their own experiences, perspectives and practical insights, which brought the content to life for the team.

“[It] helped us think beyond simply building awareness of neurodiversity to what neuroinclusive leadership can look like in practice.”

02
Practical, not theoretical
Behaviours leaders can work on

The team valued content that was practical and people-focused, giving leaders specific things to explore with their own teams.

“It gave us meaningful ways to explore how leaders can be more curious, respond respectfully to individual needs, recognise strengths and create greater psychological safety.”

03
Ready to use
Credible content that is easy to pick up

A small group piloted the platform, then chose videos to prompt discussion among senior leaders.

“We found the platform user-friendly and easy to navigate, with content that was engaging, credible and highly relevant to the workplace.”

Where it is going

Turning insights into leadership development.

The content has informed a workshop for InLife’s leaders, built around four themes.

01 /
Awareness
Building awareness of neurodiversity.
02 /
Assumptions
Challenging assumptions leaders hold.
03 /
Strengths
Leading from people’s strengths.
04 /
Environments
Places where different people can thrive.
“We’re looking forward to incorporating Kaboose content into our leadership development and continuing to use the platform as a resource to build the skills and confidence of our leaders over time.”
